Visual communication company Canva has launched an “all-in-one AI design offering” called Magic Studio, aimed at tailoring design-focused AI tools and technology for the enterprise.
The announcement comes six months after Canva first introduced AI-powered design tools to its Visual Worksuite. These capabilities have been used over 3 billion times since their launch.
Magic Studio offers over 10 new AI tools, including Magic Design, which allows users to generate videos, presentations, and complete designs from a single text prompt. Magic Switch converts designs into different formats, turning presentations into executive summaries or blog posts, for example. Users can also translate content into over 100 languages.
Other features of Magic Studio include Magic Media, which turns text into engaging photos, and Gen-2, a video generation AI model by Runway that creates videos from images or text. Magic Morph instantly transforms words and shapes into new colors, textures, patterns, and styles. Magic Expand saves zoomed-in images or turns a vertical shot horizontal by recovering what’s outside the frame.
Magic Grab allows users to select and separate any subject in a photo for editing, repositioning, or resizing.
A new copywriting assistant called Magic Write has also been launched. It enables users to write content in their brand’s tone of voice, in any design or document, by adding guidelines to their Brand Kit.
Canva is expanding its application marketplace to provide customers with access to leading AI tools, including Dall-E, Imagen by Google Cloud, MurfAI, Soundraw, and more.
In addition to the new capabilities in Magic Studio, Canva is launching a new security product called Canva Shield. It is an enterprise-grade collection of trust, safety, and privacy controls designed to provide peace of mind when creating content. Team administrators have full control over how Magic Studio products are enabled and used in the workplace.
Canva offers enterprise customers indemnification for AI-generated images
Similar to Adobe and Shutterstock, Canva Shield includes copyright indemnification for enterprise customers, providing additional peace of mind when creating content with AI.
Canva also commits $200 million over the next three years in creator and AI royalties, compensating creators for the use of their data in AI training. Canva gives creators the choice to opt out of their data being used for training purposes.
Creators who opt into training AI models on their existing content will receive a payment, including an initial bonus payment and ongoing monthly payments based on factors such as the level of contribution to the content library and the number of times it has been used.
Cameron Adams, Canva’s co-founder and chief product officer, believes that democratizing design through AI innovation helps level the creative playing field. He states that AI enables non-designers to have better conversations with graphic designers and helps people realize their ideas more quickly and with better quality.
